Taking steps and working up a sweat to help children when they needs it most. The 7th annual Kimberly’s Center for Child Protection 5k was held Saturday April 7 and Fairbanks Construction showed up ready to go. Our team was made up of 18 walkers/runners ranging in age from 3 to 59 all of whom finished, (some stronger than others). WAY TO GO TEAM FAIRBANKS!
Everyone had their part in helping to raise money for Kimberly’s Center. Every Friday Julia would go around with her change jar and with an almost Pavlovian response everyone was waiting to toss in the week’s spare change. Come Monday morning, for a little friendly competition, there would be a ranking on the white board of which department was in the lead for highest donation. No one wanted to be on the bottom of that list!
From corporate partners, vendors and some friendly competition between the departments we raised $5,500! Thank you to everyone who donated to help the children of Marion County.
Kimberly’s Center offers specialized services to the most innocent of our area with quality and timely care. A quick response is critical for a child who has suffered the trauma of child abuse and neglect. Kimberly’s Center leads the way in Marion County and can best be defined by their mission: “Our community working together to protect, serve and advocate for abused and neglected children.” Learn more about Kimberly’s Center at kimberlyscenter.org
As Spring moves in to Summer, we will continue our efforts to help our children and young people by taking donations for Royal Family Kids, be sure to check back for what we are up to.
