Below you will find 5 steps to create the perfect bento box for kids, for either snack or lunch. Throw one item from each category into 5 different snack boxes. Place the dippable items in their own separate containers with lids. Cover the rest and store in the fridge. This will make grab-and-go boxes for every day of the school week!
1. Choose your Dip
Some popular choices are guacamole, hummus, salsa, peanut butter, or Nutella. Dips are a fun choice that will fit nicely in the box.
2. Choose your Crunch
Next, add something crunchy with your dip! Tortilla chips, pretzels, crackers, popcorn, or rice cakes are good ideas that kids will enjoy.
3. Choose your Fruit
Fruits are an important part of making this bento box a healthy option. Feel free to choose your favorites! Some good smaller choices are berries, apple slices, bananas, orange slices, or grapes. Just remember not to cut the apple slices until the same day or buy prepackaged ones from the grocery store!
4. Choose your Veggie
The other important part of making this a healthy option is to include vegetables. Sometimes its difficult to get kids to eat their veggies, but if they’re mixed in with a bunch of other options, they are more likely to eat them. Baby carrots, cucumbers, celery, bell pepper strips, or tomatoes are great options.
5. Choose your Treat
Always save the best for last & include a healthy dessert. Kids typically love granola, applesauce, chocolate chips, chewy bars, or a pudding pack.
