Veterans across the country are faced with limited mobility, making it hard for them to do simple tasks such as bathing. Fairbanks Construction has partnered up with Baths for the Brave where we will be giving a veteran in need a bathroom make over.
Last week we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Battaglia. After hearing their story, we knew they were more than deserving of this remodel. Mr. Battaglia served in the Army during the Korean War as an engineer. After returning home he was faced with limited mobility, making it difficult for him to bathe.
This week we went out to their home to tell them that they were the winner.
They thought we were just coming out to continue the interview process, but as soon as the camera started rolling for their “interview” we told them that they, in fact, were the winner.
After seeing the tears on Mrs. Battaglia’s face and the excitement on his, we knew we made the right choice. There was a sigh of relief coming from Mrs. Battaglia for their in-home nurse care had just ended, which meant all of the responsibilities would fall on her. Now with our barrier-free shower Mr. Battaglia will gain his independence back and his family will have peace of mind.
“Being an American company, it is a humbling experience to be able to assist someone who has served our country so valiantly. We can not wait to see the difference our barrier-free shower makes in him and his families daily life.” – Gordon Fairbanks
The bath crash will be happening November 8 so stay tuned for more about this journey with the Battaglia family. Until then check out their reaction video!
