Comfort, Beauty and Excellence ...
Everyone knows what windows are.  We see them everyday.  But most homeowners are unaware of the pitfalls involved with choosing the right replacement windows for their home.

Despite similar looks, not all windows are created equal.  The old adage of you getting exactly what you pay for holds true.  Especially since not all windows have an energy saving rating.

Unless otherwise specified, the standard windows most home builders use are the most cost effective and are the least energy efficient.  If you have these types of windows (or old windows) you are paying for it whether you know it or not.  Buying the proper windows for your home is an investment that can pay off faster than you think.

When you consider replacing your windows there is much to know before proceeding.

There are several indicators
to look for to determine if you need to replace your windows.  One would be poor performance such as air leaks in, out and around window and condensation or fogging between the glass panes.  Also if the windows don't open and close properly because they are warped, painted or even nailed shut.  If your windows have water stains or show deterating sings such a corrosion, chipping, fading or you can't find replacement parts...these are all tell-tale sings that you need replacement windows.

There are many different styles of windows.
Double Hung Windows are characterized by two glass sashes that are 'hung' in such a manner that they independly slide up and down and easily slide past each other.  They have a stacked appearance in which both panes look the same in size.  Cross ventilation is created when both sashes are open allowing cool air to enter through the bottom and warm air to exit the top openings.  Our Double-Hung windows have a tilt out feature making them easy to clean.
Single Hung Windows are the same as above except only one pane has mobility.

Slider Windows typically have two or more sashes that are framed side-by-side and slide back and forth.  They come in standard window sizes and go all the way up to full size sliding glass doors like those found in exterior porches.  They come in many different configurations pertaining to number of sashes and which sash is operational or fixed.

Casement Windows are hinged on one side of the frame and normally open outwards by means of a operational crank.  Thus the screen is on the inside.   Casements are one of the more efficient moving windows because of how the entire sash seals against the frame when closed.  In addition, Casements offer excellent ventilation due to the angle in which the window can be opened.
Bow Windows are of similar configuration with the difference that Bays have windows that are mounted next to each other at 30 and 45 degree angles and Bows have windows that are mounted in a curved line giving it the 'Bow' look.  They come in various configurations of stationary or movable glass panes depending on the desired look and functionality.

Picture Windows are a large fixed window framed so that it is usually, but not always, longer horizontally than vertically to provide the maximum panoramic view with no obstructions.  These windows do not have any moving parts and normally idea for larger openings.

Garden Windows are a specially designed window that forms a glass box recessed in a wall. They are built with a shelf that is suitable for cultivating house plants.
